A key element of the Intelligence design is the ability to select control options to suit each project’s needs, rather than installing separate, remote occupancy and daylight sensors and controls.
This integrated, flexible arrangement facilitates a wide choice of control configurations, further enhanced by the many lamp configurations available, irrespective of switching frequency.
An additional benefit is the truly local response to changes within a pre-defined space, further enhanced by the option of hand-held remote control units.
Intelligence is an enhancement of Chalmor’s popular Brilliance fitting which has proven its cost-saving benefits in a wide range of applications. Consequently, even without its integral controls, Intelligence will provide an average operating life of 24,000 hours and where required, the fittings can be supplied with ‘Ultra’ long-life lamps to provide an average lamp life of 48,000 hours.
To put these figures into perspective, the standard Brilliance fitting will provide 6+ years of lighting if running for 12 hours a day, or 2.7+ years if running 24 hours a day, before the lamps need to be replaced. These figures are more than doubled for the ‘Ultra’ version.
With the additional in-built control of Intelligence, these re-lamping intervals can be extended even further, thus saving on maintenance and the cost of lamp disposal under the WEEE Directive. For example, with one on/off switching per day it is possible to extend the average lamp life of the Ultra version up to 58,000 hours, while dimming with Intelligence sensors will increase useful lamp life even further.

Certification
March 2010 will see the first stage of new Commission of the European Communities regulations with regards to eco-design requirements (2005/32/EC) for fluorescent lamps, and for ballasts and luminaires able to operate such lamps, and repealing Directive 2000/55/EC.
By using the latest control gear and lamps, Intelligence not only complies with future European legislation, but also conforms to EN 60598-1 and relevant Parts 2. Tri-phosphor and amalgam fluorescent lamps comply with EN61195 (safety) and EN60081 (performance) and with nominal initial (100h) lumen values included in this criteria.
