The project was designed to achieve the following objectives:
  • Reduce Operating Costs
  • Reduce Carbon Emissions
  • Improve Light Levels
  • Fast return on investment with Rapid Payback
The project involved the replacement of the old Discharge lamps with High Efficiency Refit T5 Performance Lighting. Prior to the project Lafarge had 400w High Bay fittings with conventional ballasts that can consume as much as 25% additional power. Energy efficient Brilliance Light fittings with 3 x T5 lamps, provided a 50% reduction in the overall lighting load. Further reduction in run times were achieved with Blue Wave Occupancy lighting controls that typically can save as much as an additional 40%. In other areas the existing T8 lights were converted with Re-Fit Kits to convert the lights to accept T5 lamps. T5 lamps offer as much as 30% energy savings with extended lamp life. The project provided lighting upgrades in the following areas of the facility:
  • Loading Bays
  • Maintenance Walkways
  • Platform Areas
