LED Lighting for Car Park at Nuneaton & Bedworth Council
Chalmor have completed a successful energy saving lighting project for Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council at Harefield Car Park, which is projected to provide the council £6000 annual savings and a return on investment of under 5 years. Funded by Salix, this project allowed for the upgrade of the car park’s outdated fittings to T8 LED tube 23w lamps and brand new Titan wide bodied fittings. These new fittings come pre-wired and fully IP65 compliant for use in an external car park environment, and have an extended life of 33% over the old compact fluorescent fittings. As well, Winter light levels could increase by 50% compared to T5 compact fluorescent lamps, due to LED lamps working better in colder conditions. The current winter light level would be uniformed throughout the year. The second phase saw the introduction of lighting controls and occupancy sensor controls on levels 2A and 2B, which will increase overall energy savings even further. Despite the car park’s short running hours of 06:00 to 19:30, the project will still provide the council with projected annual savings of £6,000 and a return on investment of under 5 years! The project was completed on time and to budget. John Sweeney is the Plant, Maintenance and Energy Officer at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and commented on the project: ‘Chalmor’s performance was very strong in the primary areas of product selection confidence and installation knowhow, to achieve our robust demands for the highest quality lighting and maximised energy savings delivery within our Multi-Storey Carparks.’ Download as PDF Tweet
